Technologies

At Lyndhurst Primary School, we empower students to “take flight” in Technologies as students embark on an educational journey of engaging in collaborative and effective learning experiences to prepare them for a rapidly changing world and job market. 

 

By integrating the latest technology into our classrooms, we aim to prepare our students for future academic and professional success. The Digital Technologies curriculum across the school is developmental and students at different year levels are given exposure to a range of digital tools and devices, including iPads, Windows laptops, and a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiative for students in Years 4-6.
 

In addition to supporting and enhancing essential digital skills, students are involved in teacher/student-led learning experiences using robots, drones, 3D Design Software, Green Screen Technology, Virtual Reality, a range of educational applications, a Google Classroom Learning Management System, Coding Platforms and other devices and tools that are integral to creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

These devices serve as powerful tools for learning across all subject areas and support the development of digital literacy skills. Our program strives to develop essential 21st-century skills, including:

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving

  • Creativity and innovation

  • Communication and collaboration

  • Digital literacy and fluency

  • Adaptability and lifelong learning

 

The students engage in a variety of activities and projects that develop their understanding of:

  1. Coding and Programming: Students learn to create simple programs, developing logical thinking skills.

  2. Robotics: Hands-on experiences with programmable robots enhances understanding of automation and control systems.

  3. Digital Citizenship: We emphasise responsible and ethical use of technology, including online safety and digital etiquette.

  4. Multimedia Creation: Students learn to create and edit digital content, including images, videos, and animations.

  5. Data Analysis: Activities involve collecting, analysing, and presenting data using digital tools.

  6. Collaborative Projects: Students work together on digital projects, fostering teamwork and communication skills.

 

We also prioritise looking at the technological world with a focus on cybersafety, helping students to be safe and responsible digital citizens. This program not only meets current educational standards but also anticipates future technological trends, ensuring our students are always at the forefront of digital education.
